About Our Practice
Providentia – the Roman goddess of foresight and preparation for the future.
Why does a successful commercial attorney get into wealth preservation? Because, my clients create wealth, sometimes generational wealth, and need to protect that wealth.
Wealth preservation begins with foundational estate planning. My father’s death led to the realization that my own large and blended family would only be strong and united after my passing if there was a well thought out and current plan for that future event.
So, my wife and I sat down and reviewed our estate plan. It had been sitting on a shelf, getting dusty. It was technically sound, but because it had never been reviewed it was out of date, for example, the choices of guardians we had made were no longer right, after all, life happens.
More worryingly, the plan failed to protect and preserve our wealth – our children, values and money - against a broad enough range of possible future events. It was a “one and done” engagement – building a long-term relationship based on mutual trust simply wasn’t part of the legal service offered.
I realized that a new model for wealth preservation was needed, one that lives up to the name Providentia.
